Mayor Robert Mariano is taking action with the hope of transforming Dangriga into a tourism destination. The Mayor explained that he is hoping to rival the other destinations in the country as Dangriga also boasts beaches, culture and entertainment. Assisting him at the town council are four American interns who have been working on a marketing strategy and a website.
Robert Mariano, Mayor of Dangriga Town: “At this time what we are doing around Dangriga is to pave several streets. It’s a part of the beautification project of Dangriga. What we are doing is to move forward and to see how we can make Dangriga a tourist destination. We have four students who are doing internship from the United States here and what they are doing is to assist us. They are like consultants and I’m working closely along with them and they’re working with me at the same time to see how they can give me some advice to make Dangriga a tourist destination. Dangriga have all the qualifications for tourists to come here and we are noticing that several tourists rather than to come to Dangriga they pass and go to other tourist destinations south of Dangriga and I think it is time for us to get our fair share and so we are demanding our fair share so that tourists can start to come to Dangriga. This itself again will assist in creating employment in Dangriga.”
