Daniel Burke from Prison After Being Deemed Unfit for Trial

Daniel Burke – he was on remand at the Belize Central Prison for the last seven months after wounding a 14-year-old student on her face. This week, Burke was released from prison after Senior Magistrate Baja Shoman, declared him not fit for trial. The 30-year-old was psychiatrically evaluated twice with the doctor concluding that he needs to remain medicated with continuous doctor check-ups. The charge against Burke stems from an incident in October 2022 when he approached the student on Central American Boulevard, and cut her on the face, causing her to get thirteen to fourteen stitches. Interestingly, when Burke was arraigned in court, he noted that did not recall what had happened.
