David Almendarez Enters Politics as UDP Candidate for Belize Rural Central

The United Democratic Party has a new candidate in the Belize Rural Central Constituency, and his name is David Almendarez. Last month, Almendarez, best known for his fiery appearances with the Federation of Cruise Tourism Association of Belize, was sworn in by the UDP. The businessman is no stranger to the media and has been a vocal critic of the current and past governments, so his nomination surprised many. He will now poise to face off against the People’s United Party Dolores Balderamos Garcia. Today, she was asked for her take on Almendarez entering the political arena and whether she believes he’ll be a viable opponent.

Dolores Balderamos Garcia, Minster of Human Development: “My only comment is that I take no opponent lightly. I take absolutely no opponent lightly, and I will continue to work hard.”

Almendarez replaces the UDP’s former area representative Beverly Williams.
