The home of an elderly woman was shot fifteen times today by a lone gunman. The home of Janett Gray in the Jane Usher area was targeted when her grandson came to visit. According to Gray, she asked her grandson to throw away the garbage across the street when two men that he had previous altercations with passed him. When the minor reached upstairs, one of the men fired several shots in his direction putting in danger Gray and her grandchildren in the home.
Janett Gray, Grandmother: “My grandson was here visiting me and he was here all the while in my home upstairs and I had asked him to go and throw away some dirt for me. I came out on the veranda, I stood out on the veranda and I saw him go throw the dirt. When coming back he and another guy was coming back together, I don’t really know what went on but he had come up the step, as soon as he reached at the veranda that is where I started to hear shooting but at that moment I never thought it was a gun I thought it was those pop shots that they are still doing at Christmas behavior. And so after when he came inside the house I saw him look very frightened and so I asked him “what is going on out there.” and then he said “mom it was me they were shooting after.” and I said “What?!”. I said “I just can’t believe it.” After that everything got calm, the police they came, the mobile called in the troops, everybody came in and so they started to do their check and everything. One good thing I’m thankful for is not one of the bullets caught him anywhere and I’m very happy that God was with him at that time. I am just asking and pleading to him, because he knows who he is, to let them stop this nonsense. If there was something wrong that he have done you could have come talk to me.”
There were no reports of injuries, but Gray now fears for her grandson’s life.
