Police in San Ignacio have confirmed the identity of the headless body found yesterday afternoon. 46-year-old Oscar Correa Senior had been reported missing in late December by his wife and children. Multiple searches had been conducted, and assistance had been gotten from Guatemalan authorities in trying to locate Corea. The search ended yesterday when the missing man’s body was found in a bushy area off the Benque Viejo Road. Police Commissioner Chester Williams spoke on the findings in the investigation.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “I know that yesterday in the San Ignacio jurisdiction police did recover the body of a male person who had gone missing I think some time in December. Within the area where the body was found police also found a noose which we believe was used by the individual to have committed suicide. It would appear that he may have hanged himself and after a couple of days of being hanged the head let loose from the body and the head may have been taken a bit away from the body by animals. And so the doctors were on the scene yesterday and performed an on site autopsy and have concluded that the manner of death is suicide.”
Love News understands that the body was identified by the clothing. Corea was last seen on December 28 when he left his home in the Santiago Juan Layout in San Ignacio Town.
