Devin Daly Highlights Transformative Power of Sports in Debut Speech

Devin Daly, Minister of State in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, delivered his debut speech during yesterday’s national budget debate, passionately underscoring the critical role of sports in nation-building and personal transformation. Drawing from his own journey, Daly spoke candidly about how sports shaped his life, declaring that he is the product of what sports can do. He emphasized the need to create more structured opportunities for youth through athletics, citing its power not only to foster discipline and teamwork but to open doors to education and employment.

Daly also addressed the allocation of resources within the Ministry’s budget, clarifying that the bulk of the funds are earmarked for the upkeep of sporting facilities and payment of staff. He explained that these are the people and places that keep our youth engaged, our programs functioning, and our communities thriving.

Daly won in the Collet division versus Patrick Faber in the 2025 General Election.
