Movie star Leonardo DiCaprio and his investment team is expected to arrive in Belize in the next couple weeks to forward DiCaprio’s idea as it relates to Blackadore Caye which he owns. He plans to restore the island which is basically eroding. DiCaprio plans to build 68 guest villas that will have access to nearly a mile of secluded beach, grassland and jungle. Today we got an update on the project from the CEO in the Ministry of Trade and Investment, Michael Singh, spoke to Love News.
“That’s moving forward; we actually have them coming in, in about a week for us to formalize an MOU under the broad strokes on the type of permits that we are going to be giving them to operate. There was an issue on the 66 foot reserve because the island is a very long, thin island and they were a bit concerned that enforcement of public use of the 66-foot reserve might actually reduce the amount of developable land that they have. So, we are trying to find a work around and so I think that is what we are going to straighten out over the next few weeks.”
Blackadore Caye is 104 acres.
