With its proposed acquisition of Speednet now off the table, Belize Telemedia Limited, which operates as Digi, has recorded the highest profit in the company’s history. BTL earned thirty-six-point-nine million dollars for the financial year ending March 31, 2026. That is almost nine million dollars more than the twenty-eight-point-one million earned the year before, representing an increase of thirty-one percent. The company brought in approximately one hundred and sixty-five million dollars in revenue, while earnings per share increased from fifty-three cents to seventy cents. Its return on equity stood at fifteen-point-two percent, above the twelve-percent target set under its five-year plan. The figures show a sharp turnaround from 2021, when BTL recorded a net income of only five-point-four million dollars. In the five years since then, the company earned a combined one hundred and twenty-seven-point-six million dollars. It is reported that BTL also expanded its network during that period, adding forty-one mobile sites and extending fibre-to-the-home service to thirty-seven more communities. Broadband customers increased from about thirty thousand to more than forty-seven thousand, while mobile subscriptions grew from roughly two hundred and three thousand to two hundred and twenty-four thousand. Chief Executive Officer Ivan Tesucum says BTL has proudly met its financial targets. According to the report, the company is now beginning a new five-year plan focused on improving its network and customer service, while expanding into areas such as artificial intelligence, data centres, cloud services, cybersecurity and advanced analytics.
