Tonight, the Department of Youth Services is without a director after Kevin Cadle resigned from the position. Two weeks ago, Cadle tendered his letter of resignation after reports emerged that his academic accolades were being scrutinized. The public officer’s letter was then accepted by the Ministry of Public Service and was effective on September 18. Minister of Public Service, Henry Charles Usher, weighed in on the decision today and explained that he was not briefed on Cadle’s reasoning for departing the DYS.
Henry Charles Usher, PUP Chairman: “The Director of Youth Services, Mr. Cadle, submitted his resignation from the public service. He gave 26 years of his life to public service. I have to thank him for all the years that he gave to public service, to the people and country of Belize, but he decided to go in a different direction. He submitted that resignation and the resignation was accepted by the Ministry of Public Service. He submitted his resignation and as being a public officer for 26 years he is entitled to his benefits, yes. Once the resignation is accepted. Of course he’s not of the pension age.”
Cadle assumed the role of Director of the DYS in 2021.
