Another of the cruise projects that the Department of the Environment has on its radar is the Stake Bank Project, which runs Port Coral. It too is one of three port projects happening and this has also gotten the greenlight from the NEAC and the DOE. We asked Chief Environmental Officer, Anthony Mai for comment on the department’s compliance monitoring of the project at this time.
Anthony Mai, Chief Environmental Officer: “We have been conducting compliance monitoring at Stake Bank. We have not received any information as it relates to the stalling of the project but during the compliance monitoring inspection we meet with the operations person, we walk the entire facility and when we do compliance monitoring it is done jointly with other government and regulatory bodies. And so the idea is for us to determine their level of compliance and where non compliance issues are identified we work with the developer to fix these issues and to ensure that the development develops within the confines of the environmental compliance plan. So we are monitoring them.”
