Domestic Dispute, another common law wife stabbed

Domestic abuse continues to be an issue for our country. A woman in Belmopan, survived an attempt on her life. The man who stabbed her was her common law husband. This is the second incident in less than two weeks in the Capital during which a man has stabbed and attempted to kill his common law wife. Assistant Commissioner ACP Joseph Myvett, says she is in a stable condition.

ACP Joseph Myvett – Head National Crimes Investigation Branch: “On the 4th of May Belmopan Police responded to information of a stabbing incident on Sartsoon Street Belmopan where upon arrival a female later identified as Katherine Anthony 38 years of a George Price Highway address was seen suffering from an apparent stab wound to the right side of the lower part of her chest. She reported to police that whilst at a relative’s home on Sartsoon Street she had a misunderstanding with her common-law husband who in the process inflicted the said injuries to her. Police are seeking her common-law husband in relation to this crime. The injury has not yet been classified but she is in a stable condition. At this point in time, I will not go into the details other than to say it was a disagreement or an argument.”
