Domestic exports see increase

Meanwhile in External Trade, the SIB reports increases in both imports and exports during the month of November.  Belize’s imported goods were valued at over $165 million, up 7.2 percent or a little over $11 million for the same period last year. This was due primarily to fuel imports. Merchandise imports for the period January to November 2018 totaled $1.8 billion, representing a 5.9 percent or a little over $98 million increase for the same eleven-month period last year. The total value of Belize’s domestic exports for the month of November 2018 was $21.3 million, up 26.2 percent or $4.4 million. This was largely due to greater export revenues from both sugar and bananas for the month. For the first eleven months overall, Merchandise exports totaled $376.5 million, a 12.4 percent or $53.4 million decrease, for the same period last year.
