Downtown Icon ‘Anti-Christ’ Lavern Longsworth Passes Away

Lavern Longsworth also known as “Anti-Christ” passed away this week. Longsworth was a staple in downtown Belize City where she sold school books, would always be seen in front of the Vogue building on North Front Street.  Longsworth made national headlines back in 2010 when she lit her common-law husband, David White on fire. White later died of his injuries and Longsworth was charged and later convicted of his murder. However, her case would not end there.  With help from an organization from the United Kingdom, her conviction was overturned on appeal after it was determined that she was suffering from battered woman syndrome. She was released on early parole in 2016. Longsworth will be laid to rest tomorrow.
