DPM Hyde talks fuel subsidies

Meanwhile, this week, the acting Prime Minister spoke on is the rising cost of fuel. Because of the difficult situation, subsidies have been provided to various sectors including transportation and tourism. When asked about why the Government has not fully explained how much these subsidies cost taxpayers, Minister Cordel Hyde says that Government will provide that information.

Cordel Hyde, Acting Prime Minister: “I can assure you that that’s certainly not the intention of the Government to be any, to be less than transparent. That’s not the intention of the Government. So we will discuss that at the next Cabinet to discuss how we move forward with that. How we make sure that we are very transparent with people in terms of how much these subsidies have cost the Government in terms of taxes and how much longer we will minatina that to keep the prices at where they are. So it’s not the intention of the Government to not be transparent. We will be transparent in the matter.”
