The Government of Belize has announced the installation of a Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management. In the list of CEOs issued last week, this ministry was yet to confirm an appointment. CEO Dr Kenrick Williams takes office immediately. His background shows that he had earned a doctorate in natural resources and environmental studies from the National Dong Hwa University in Hualein, Taiwan and a Master’s degree in international environmental sustainable development from the National Central University. CEO Williams will work with Minister Orlando Habet. Another CEO taking office is Amilin Mendez who will serve in the Ministry of Economic Development. She holds a Master’s of Science in International Trade Policy with specialization in Trade in Services and Market Access of Goods. She also has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of the West Indies. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Project Management at the University for International Cooperation. Mendez reportedly has substantial experience in national and regional project development with a special interest in education and private sector driven investment. She will work directly with the Prime Minister who holds the portfolio for Economic Development and Investment as well his Ministers of State Christopher Coye and Michael Espat.
