The Belize Motor Vehicle Registration and License System (BMVRLS) is officially up and running after being out of service for the past few weeks. It is a system used to input data and print driver’s license for national transport. Recently installed Chief Executive Officer, Chester Williams, had committed to address the matter with urgency and after testing the software over the past twenty four hours, the department announced that they would now be issuing driver’s licenses as well as motor vehicle licenses. A release from the Department of Transport noted that all hands were on deck with Minister Dr. Louis Zabaneh, CEO Williams and Chief Transport Officer, Leon Gentle, had met with partners at the Embassy of Taiwan and the Central Information Technology Office (CITO) to resolve the issues. It was just eight days ago, that CEO Williams notified the media that the department had failed to make payment for the renewal of the software. It has caused drivers to use their receipts as proof of license at various check points. Love News understands that the printing of outstanding licenses is now underway and drivers can do pickups at their respective transport office.
