Northern farmers are expected to benefit from the launch of “An Introductory Course to Agricultural Drone Pilotage in Belize,” aimed at modernizing agriculture in the Corozal and Orange Walk districts. This initiative introduces farmers to the transformative potential of drones for crop monitoring, precise application of inputs, and pest and disease management, enhancing yields, reducing costs, and improving sustainability. CEO for the Office of the Prime Minister and Investment, Narda Garcia expressed that this is a move to enhance the agricultural industry.
Conducted by DRTX Drones Mexico, the course addresses the absence of similar training in Belize and equips farmers with tools to optimize production in crops like sugarcane, onions, rice, and livestock management. Agriculture Officer, Fred Roches says that this will aid in their endeavors.
The course was sponsored by the Office of the Prime Minister and Ministry of Investment, which partnered with the Corozal Think Tank, DRTX Drones, Corozal ITVET, and the Corozal Town Council.
