Twenty-one year old Wordsworth Clarke, charged with drug trafficking for 107 grams of cannabis, was freed of the charge when it was struck today by Magistrate La Donna John for want of prosecution. After one witness testified the prosecution case collapsed because there were two contradicting drug certificates. One which described the envelope from the forensic laboratory as white and the other which described the envelope as brown. As a result, the prosecution did not offer anymore evidence and Clarke’s attorney, Kevin Arthurs, submitted that his client does not have a case to answer. Magistrate John upheld the submission and struck out the case. The incident occurred on May 16, 2014 on Pelican Street Extension. The police had claimed that they saw Clarke throw a plastic bag in an open lot and when they retrieved the bag they saw it contained cannabis.
