Early morning shooting of Hattieville resident

A man was shot multiple times this morning in Hattieville Village, Belize District.  The victim was reportedly sitting alone on the stairs of a friend’s house when a man approached him and engaged in casual conversation.  A few minutes later the man reportedly pulled out a firearm and fired at the victim.  The victim, Ozen Rhaburn was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment.  Assistant Superintendent of Police, Alejandro Cowo briefly spoke on this incident during this morning’s press brief.

A.S.P. Alejandro Cowo – Head CIB, Belize City: “This morning at about 9am police visited an area located in the Hattieville Village known as Farmers Site where they observed a male person by the name of Ozen Rhaburn with gunshot injuries to his body. Police were able to transport him to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he is presently undergoing surgery and is in critical but stable condition. What we understand is that Mr. Rhaburn was inside of his residence this morning along with other persons when somebody approached him and fired shots at their direction which resulted in him receiving the injuries. I believe that so far police have detained one person that is in custody at Hattieville Station.”

Love News understands that quick response from the police has led to the detention of the suspected shooter.
