With the recent order from the Ministry of Finance to scale back on deparmtnetal expenses, we sought responses from Ministers to see how they will handle the reduced expenditure.  Minister Anthony Boots Martinez says he will be more prepared to give us a response following a meeting with his ministry tomorrow.  Minister Edmond Castro says he has not seen the memo and is unaware of it.  What he did say to us, however, is that he too is having hard times and have had to find other means of survival since he has not received any salary since March.  The NEMO and Transport Minister has embarked on the development of a business dubbed, Papa Jeff’s Smoked Beef.  Minister Castro spoke of how others who are unemployed or whose business has dwindled could embark on business in the agro-productive sector.

Edmond Castro, Minister of  State, Ministry of Transport

Edmond Castro, Minister of  State, Ministry of Transport: “Sell smoked beef and we also have like eight people off the unemployment line we have approximately eight people that work in our operation in terms of the slaughtering and the processing of smoked beef an so we are giving that at COVID prices. We’re selling actually cheaper than the imported stuff in terms of salt beef and some of the other product that we are producing locally so I think the situation now and the time has come for us as a nation and the nation builders is to look within what we can do in our economy to jump start the economy.”
