Belize City resident Edward Conorquie died this afternoon after being shot several times in southern Belize. Police report that the 22-year-old was found on Sunday morning on the outskirts of Independence Village, severely wounded. ACP Joseph Myvett, Head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch says they are yet to find out how he got to the area where he was found by villagers.
ACP Joseph Myvett: “Some time after 5AM Independence Police were called to Independence PolyClinic where they observed a male person with head and body injuries. He was immediately transported to the Southern Regional Hospital and later to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where his name was learned to be Edward Conorquie 22 years of a Vernon Street address in Belize City. Initial investigation revealed that Conorquie was at a function in Independence Village and sometime between 4 and 5 AM where he was picked up by civilians just outside of Independence Village and taken to the PolyClinic with these injuries.”
Police say Conorquie was found less than a mile from where he was last seen. ACP Myvett adds that he is known to police.
