Elderly Cyclist Killed in Southern Belize After Collision with Bus

An elderly man was killed this morning just after ten o’clock in southern Belize.  84-year-old, Cecilio Caal of San Roman Village, Stann Creek District was riding his black beach cruiser bicycle nearby when he was hit by a 2007 Toyota Costa Bus.  The bus was driven at the time by 65-year-old, Domingo Torres.   Love News understands that the incident occurred between miles 27 and 28 on the Thomas Vincent Highway.  Reports say that Caal was heading in the opposite direction, but that he had swerved into the lane of the bus, making it hard to avoid a collision.  Caal was flung off the bike some thirty feet away from the site.  When Police arrived, they found the mangled bicycle under the rear portion of the bus.  Meanwhile, the bus had a broken windshield and several dents in the front portion of the bus.  Police are yet to levy charges.
