An elderly man was apparently beaten and abducted from his home in rural Belize early this morning. According to police around seven-fifty, they responded to a report at mile thirty-one on the Phillip Goldson Highway. Upon arrival, officers spoke to Jermaine Jerguson who told them that sometime after seven o’clock, he saw two men going to the residence of sixty-nine-year-old Geoffrey Crawford, and about ten minutes later, one of the men asked for a jump start for Crawford’s vehicle. Jerguson says he helped the individuals to start the car and when the men drove off, he noticed that Crawford slouched up on the back passenger seat of his red Nissan Pathfinder with injuries to his head. His daughter, who only wanted to be identified by her surname, says she had spoken to him last week and can’t understand why someone would do such a thing.
Our newsroom understands that several searches were conducted to locate Geoffrey Crawford and his vehicle but up to news time tonight, his condition and whereabouts remain unknown.
