Elderly Man Killed in Hit-and-Run on Southern Highway; Vehicle Impounded

An elderly man was killed in a hit-and-run on Saturday night near mile 92 on the Southern Highway, Toledo District. Sometime before 10 o’clock, 73-year-old Windel Jacobs Sr. was knocked down by a vehicle and left for dead in Jacintoville. The senior citizen was not found until he was later hit by a motorcycle, The senior citizen was hit a second time by a motorcycle as the driver says he was unable to stop when he saw Jacobs on the road. He was transported to the Punta Gorda Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police have since impounded the vehicle of a man based on eyewitness statements; their investigations continue.
