A family in the Corozal District is offering a reward to anyone who can help find the driver responsible for the death of 53-year-old Esteban Arana. Not long after yesterday’s horrific highway collision yesterday, there was another fatal incident on the Philip Goldson Highway. This time it was a hit and run incident in the Corozal District. Arana, a resident of Ranchito Village was walking on the highway when he was hit by a vehicle and left for dead. Senior Superintendent Hilberto Romero explained that the roads were wet due to recent rains and they are still hoping for leads to help in their investigation.
Senior Superintendent, Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “Corozal police visited an area between miles 78 and 79 where they found the motionless body of Esteban Arana, 53 years laborer of Ranchito Village; he had several injuries to the head and body. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Information revealed that he was walking on the highway and was struck by a vehicle which fled from the scene. At the time it was raining and we are asking the public’s assistance to give us information if they know what vehicle hit this person.”
Love News understands that the Arana family is offering one thousand US dollars for information leading to the arrest of the driver in this hit and run incident.
