A 55-year-old resident of the Toledo District is alleging abuse by senior officials at the Lands Department. Dona Bull resides in the Swasey River area of the Toledo District. She says she has made numerous trips to the Lands Department in Belmopan trying to get the title to 26 acres of land she inherited from her parents. She says this has been going on for years. Bull says she has seen Government Ministers, the Lands Commissioner and a lands surveyor but she has gotten nowhere. Bull took her report of abuse and her frustrations to our Cayo Correspondent Fem Cruz.
As Bull noted, the Lands Department is offering to compensate her with 15 acres of land for the 26 acres they have given to someone else. Love News has contacted the Lands Commissioner, Wilbert Vallejos who told us that the situation is not as was described by Bull. He added that he has never chased anyone from his office and that he is aware of the case. According to Vallejos he recalls in one instance as much as five hours were spent with Bull at the Lands Department in an attempt to reason with her. Our newsroom will get the full account from the Lands Department tomorrow and will update you accordingly.
