Elderly woman shot while at home in rural Belize

A construction worker from Ladyville Village has been charged with shooting an elderly woman over the weekend. Today, police formally arrested and charged 23-year-old Shackeem Ferguson with the crimes of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm. Ferguson is the alleged triggerman behind a shooting incident that took place on Saturday night in Ladyville Village. According to police, sixty-two-year-old Diamantia Hernandez and her husband were inside the comfort of their home on Perez Road when they came under fire. Hernandez was hit to the abdomen and was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where she is listed in stable condition.
