The body of a retired teacher from Benque Viejo del Carmen Town, Cayo District has been found. 42-year-old Elito Puc left home seven days ago to go to Melchor De Mencos, in Guatemala to run an errand. Love News understands that the family received an anonymous tip that Puc was murdered and disposed of on Tuesday. They conducted several search parties on the Belize and Guatemalan sides, and eventually, a severed human head was found yesterday in Suchitan, Guatemala. However, Belizean authorities stated that the head was not Puc’s. Earlier this afternoon, however, Puc’s headless body was found on the land in Barrio De Juda that belongs to Jorge Espat. If you may recall, Espat had recently taken members of the media to Barrio de Juda because of Guatemalan squatters. We spoke to Espat, who said that he believes it is simply a coincidence that a body was found on his land.

Jorge Espat, Land Owner: “I had sent my personnel to take a look at the area as they normally do and I had given them a call around 11:30 this morning and by 3:11 or 3:10 this evening they got back to me and mentioned that they just had found the body of Mr.Puc from Succotz.- headless body in our territory borderline of our property.”

Reporter: But you don’t know why, there’s no reason for him to be dumped on your land?

Jorge Espat, Land Owner: I do believe so. The only thing is that the body was found there, I don’t know anything else before or after, that’s the only news I got, that is what they told me but they are waiting for the authorities to look for the body.”

Puc is the former Chairman of San Jose Succotz Village and was a retired teacher at Mopan Technical High School. His last employment was with Silva’s Bus Service as a watchman. A surveillance camera in Melchor reportedly reveals that Puc had arrived in Melchor on Thursday, November 28 at 6:42pm. Puc’s body is currently being transported in a casket from the border to the morgue.
