The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) issued a release today warning Belizeans against believing a fake article that has been circulating on social media. The article is entitled “Taiwanese Government warns investors, caution with Belize,” and is posted on a fabricated Taiwan News Facebook page. Taiwan would like to advise Belizeans that no such announcement has been made on the real Taiwan Facebook page. The release continues by stating that the Embassy has worked vigorously and systematically with GOB and related stakeholders to promote and strengthen the bilateral trade ties between the two countries. In June of this year, a Taiwanese Delegation even visited Belize to explore investment opportunities in the Tourism Industry. In October as well, another investment mission comprised of Taiwanese nationals from North American and Taiwan visited Belize in collaboration with the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Commerce, and the Ministry of Agriculture. This was to explore the investment opportunities in the agriculture sector of Belize. Taiwan noted these as, quote, “ironclad facts speaking for themselves I the mightiest way that Belize and Taiwan continue to work hand in hand with each other for even stronger ties in trade and investment.” End quote.
