Ex-Police Constable found Guilty of Raping Minor

An ex-Police Constable is now facing fifteen years in prison after he was convicting of raping a minor.  43-year-old, Cyril Casimiro was sentenced yesterday by Justice Antoinette Moore, who chastised the former cop, saying that his crime was brutal as the then 14-year-old victim had to receive surgery after he raped her.  Prior to sentencing, Casimiro expressed remorse for the crime, and asked that his 19 years as a cop be taken into consideration.  Casimiro was found guilty on March 14, 2023, which is the date that his sentencing takes effect.   His case stems from an incident that occurred on April 15 when Casimiro offered the child a ride home in Corozal, but instead he took the child to a deserted area on the Consejo Road and raped her.  Casimiro was represented by Attorney Oscar Selgado.
