Retired police officer, Edwardo Wade Senior, is one of seven persons who died in Wednesday’s road traffic incident on the George Price Highway. As we noted in previous newscasts, Wade had served for over three decades in the Belize Police Department and although retired, Police Commissioner Chester Williams told the media today that he will get a full police send-off.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “Mr.Wade is dear to us. He served many years as a police officer and rose to the rank of assistant commissioner at which rank he retired. As a constable Mr.Wade was my commanding officer in Cayo and when I was the head of CIB in Belize City he was the head of CIB nationally and so I worked under this command for many many years and he has has mentored me, he has guided me, he has helped to mold me to be the police officer I am today and so it is only fitting that not only for what he did for me but what he did for the department and the country ,because I’m sure that many would agree that he served many years with distinction and honor. He was a no nonsense type of officer and so it is only fitting that the police department give Mr.Wade the final respect and so we are going to have an official funeral for Mr.Wade. The police department will be having the funeral just as if he was a serving member of the department so we’ll do our best to bid him that final farewell and final respect that he rightly deserved after having served this nation for over thirty seven years as a police officer.”
Love News understands that the Wade and Alcoser families are planning one funeral service for the three victims, namely, Lourdes Wade, Mayra Alcoser and Edwardo Wade Senior.
