Ex-Police Officer’s Firearm Case Extended Amid Prosecution Delay

Ex- Police Officer and son of Minister Gilroy Usher Sr, finds it unjust that his kept firearm and ammunition case is prolonging before the court. Darrell “Tutsi” Usher appeared represented by Attorney Richard “Dickie” Bradley for what should have been the start of his trial for kept unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Head of prosecution, Alifah Elrington was not present in court since she is on sick leave. Bradley asked the court to consider that the matter has been prolonging and so a sitting senior magistrate stood down the matter, when it was called back up at 12; however, Bradley did not show up. Usher asked for the matter to be addressed anyway since he finds it disheartening that the prosecution refused to submit their arguments for him to present to his attorney. The senior magistrate granted another adjournment to the crown for March 22 and March 25. Usher was charged two years ago on October 16, 2021, after the Belize Police Department alleged that they caught him with an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
