Exercise Caution Near Haulover Bridge as Replacement Nears Completion

The Ministry of Infrastructure Development is asking motorists to exercise caution when approaching the Haulover Bridge over the next few days. The bridge’s replacement is almost done and the final portions of the structure are being set in place. The ministry says that the transportation of huge concrete columns will create difficulty for persons traversing the area. Evondale Moody, the ministry’s Engineering Coordinator, explained that within the next couple of months, the newly installed bridge will be opened to the public.

Evondale Moody, Engineering Coordinator, Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing:  “For the Haulover Bridge we’re making significant progress on that structure and so this weekend commencing tomorrow we’ll be transporting the last seven girders that ar required for that structure and that is for us to install those girders on the center span for that bridge. Once we have installed those girders that will be the final segment for that bridge structure and thereafter we will continue with the construction of the deck. As we mentioned before the idea is that we want to try and finish the Haulover Bridge towards the end of this year / early January so that we could open it up to traffic. In speaking with the contractor and the traffic management plan that we have those girders will be transported throughout the day over the weekend and going into Monday as far as I’m aware. We should be able to transport about two to three girders per day and put them in place and so the exact duration we know which is the three days but the exact timing is kind of difficult for us to say a specific time because it’s gonna be over a period of the working day. Haulover Bridge will still be open to traffic we’re just asking motorists to be careful while traversing the existing bridge because we will have these long girders along that route so we’re not saying that the bridge will be closed we’re just saying for motorists to be more careful when traversing that intersection near the bridge.”

The Haulover Bridge is being done at a cost of thirty point nine million dollars.
