Expo Belize Market Place to Go Ahead Despite Persistent Rains

With persistent rains soaking the country over the past 24 hours, final preparations are still on track for the 29th annual Expo Belize Market Place, organized by the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).  Since early July, the BCCI team has been working alongside the National Sports Council to improve drainage and field conditions at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex. Those investments are already paying off — the grounds have been spared from major flooding despite the downpour, ensuring that vendors and patrons will have safe access to the two-day event.  Additional measures are being implemented to further safeguard the venue against the weather, while organizers reassure Belizeans that the Expo remains open and accessible. With most of the rainfall expected to move south in the next 24 to 48 hours, BCCI is encouraging the public to come out and enjoy the wide range of deals, products, food, and entertainment offered by local businesses, entrepreneurs, and artists.  To better support micro-businesses setting up for the weekend, the start time has been adjusted to 10:00 a.m. Attendees are also urged to stay tuned to BCCI’s social media, email, and text messaging channels for real-time updates in case of any weather-related changes.  The Expo officially opens tomorrow, Saturday, September 13, and continues through Sunday, September 14, at the Marion Jones Stadium in Belize City.
