Faber Backs New UDP Leader After Being Barred From Convention Race

Patrick Faber was very much present at yesterday’s convention.  He no longer serves as an elected representative, but he does hold a Senatorial seat for the UDP.  One of the issues he mentioned yesterday was the fact that he was not allowed to run in the convention.  As for his role in what many hope will be the rebirth of the UDP, Faber says he will support Party Leader Tracy Panton.

Patrick Faber, UDP Senator: “Well, as you know, I was not allowed to run. I was not, in fact, I’m surprised I’m even allowed to vote today which shows the hypocrisy of the former leadership. The Collet constituency was not one that should have been put up for a convention, nonetheless they did it and I was not allowed to run in that convention. But you know, I expect those wrongs to be righted after today’s convention and we’ll see where that takes us. I am grateful that the caretaker is currently the former chairperson of our committee and is very close to me as you may know. And so we will continue to work for the people of Collet no matter what but we expect the wrongs to be righted.”

Faber was an elected representative for the UDP for five consecutive terms and served in the House from 2003 to 2025.  He lost his seat in the Collet Division to Devin Daly in this year’s general elections.
