Over the weekend, two bandits posing as cops targeted a home in Armenia Village, Cayo District. Jose Antonio Gonzalez was just getting home at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday when he saw a black SUV parked near the entrance of his house. When he went inside his house, he was assaulted by two men dressed in Police uniforms. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hilberto Romero says that the men pried open Gonzalez’s door and assaulted him before ransacking his home.
ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “Jose Gonzalez reported that he arrived home and saw a vehicle in front of his house. He then entered his residence where he was held up by two persons who were dressed as police officers. They proceeded to tie him up and they ransacked the house and stole several items and an amount of cash. The persons then fled from the area. Police are investigating this matter, at this time we have no suspects. They were in the number one police uniforms so yes that is an offense if we find anyone wearing that uniform who is not a police officer so they will be charged.”
