A family of 6 is today without a home after theirs was completely destroyed by a fire. Toledo Correspondent, Paul Mahung, has the story.

A fire yesterday afternoon totally destroyed the home of a family of six in Silver Creek Village Toledo. Owner of the building Sebastian Choco spoke to Love News at the fire scene.

Sebastian Choco, Homeowner: “I got a call this afternoon around two o’clock that my wife called me and she said how my house is on fire. When I arrived around two o’clock what I found out was that my house was completely destroyed by fire. Everything that I have, everything that I had at home burned to ashes. My total cost of damage is about $20,000 including everything I have; fridge, stove, TV, washing machine etc. Right now I am pleading with the community for any assistance, they can reach me at my number 633-9405 anything like house items kitchen utensils, clothing for my four kids- one was attending high school, two at primary school and a new born baby three months old.”

At the time of the fire Choco said that the three persons at home were his wife who was nearby outside doing laundry, his five year son who was playing outside near the house and his  three month old baby who was inside and was saved by the mother amidst smoke just in time before the burning roof of the building collapsed and fell inside the 35X20 feet building with thatched roof, wooden walls and concrete floor. The Choco family expressed gratitude to the villagers who quickly arrived at the location and made attempts to out the fire which totally destroyed the building in spite of their courageous efforts. With urgent calls for assistance at this time of need, Sebastian Choco mentioned that any kind of assistance will be highly appreciated. You can contact him at 633-9405 and contributions can also be made through the officer in charge of the Punta Gorda Fire Service Miguel Matus or fireman Dorin McFadzean. Investigations continue into the cause of the fire.
