The Belize Bank Limited and Hands in Hands Ministries teamed up to give a family a home for the Christmas. Cayo Correspondent Elaine Berry has the story.
Elaine Berry, Cayo Correspondent, Love FM News: The Hand in Hand Ministry along with Belize Bank San Ignacio Branch handed over a two bedroom wooden house which is located in the Buena Vista area of San Ignacio to one Mirna Cuellar. Love News spoke to Rasheeda Betran, Director of the Building for Change program for the Hand in Hand Ministry about the importance of the house to the family.
Rasheeda Betran, Hand in Hand Ministries: “Ms.Mirna had reached out to Hand in Hand Ministries a few months ago in reference to housing assistance. She came and explained her situation but at the time when she came in we were not set to build in district so she was placed on a standby list. Once we had been approached by Belize Bank they wanted to build out in this area so we contacted Ms.Mirna and our committee came out to do a visit to see her living condition and I was very shocked when I saw her living conditions for her and her family. It’s going to be a great blessing for them and for the family moving from where they were to now a stable home with a roof over their heads.
Elaine Berry, Cayo Correspondent, Love FM News: I also spoke to Yvette Moguel, Admin Service Supervisor of Belize Bank San Ignacio Bank who told us more about the bank’s participation in building the house.
Yvette Moguel, Admin Service Supervisor, Belize Bank: “The Belize Bank partnered with Hand in Hand Ministries to help a family in this Christmas season. Once the staff was advised everybody was willing, we jumped on board and we made a schedule of who was to work and how and when we were to work and the staff happily gave their time. We had fun working and we’re glad that Ms.Mirna has a new home that she can go into for the Christmas season.”
This is the 36th house that has been built by Hand in Hand Ministries under the theme “Lend a hand. Change a life”
