The family of 18-year-old, Johan Camara and 48-year-old, Louis Camara has issued a public appeal hoping that it would aid them in locating the two men. The men were taken on Tuesday, October 8 from Subteniente Lopez in the Othon P Blanco municipality of Quintana Roo, Mexico. Camara’s relative recorded a video yesterday appealing to the public to circulate the video and flyers. Additionally, the family is asking for the help of the Belize government and law enforcement officials.
Sister of Louis Camara: “The family we want to let the public know what transpired yesterday around 4:30 in the afternoon. My nephew Johan Camara is a student of the Instituto Technologico de La Zona Maya. He was traveling with my niece to Subteniente López Quintana Roo. The reason for Johan heading to Subteniente López was to go and get money to purchase gas for the pickup truck he was using to travel to the Ejido de Juan Sarabia where he attends school. Unfortunately upon reaching subteniente they were intercepted by masked armed men. Johan managed to reverse and drive past the parked vehicle. The assailants gave chase to my nephew and started to shoot at him. Johan managed to reach the spot where he was supposed to meet my brother Luis Jose but by then the assailants had managed to reach the spot too. Johan was forced out of his vehicle and forced to get in the assailant’s car at gunpoint. Upon seeing his son forced into the vehicle my brother tried to stop them but he was threatened and pushed into the vehicle with his son. The assailants then left heading to the direction of Chetumal. Was call was made to 911 but they did not show up to render help to my niece who was left behind. It was then that we headed to the Attorney General’s Office in Chetumal Quintana Roo where they gave us prompt assistance in the missing persons report and published the notice of the missing persons. We are grateful for their unconditional support. The office of the Attorney General in Quintana Roo is the only office that has assisted us so far. We have reached out to our Belizean Consulate but up to the moment they have not reached to us to offer their support.”
Love News had reached out to Belize’s Ambassador to Mexico, Oscar Arnold, who confirmed that he had received reports of the men going missing. We will keep following this story as it develops.
