The family of 27-year-old Michael Whittaker has had to lay him to rest for a second time. Whittaker’s missing skull was located over the weekend after it had been taken from the gravesite in Corozal. Police reported that several individuals were under suspicion in connection with the disturbance, which they believe was an act of intimidation. While no arrests have been made yet, investigators are actively pursuing leads. The family had been holding out hope that his skull would be returned. Their prayers were answered last Friday when they received the news that the missing remains had been located. According to reports, a civilian discovered Whittaker’s skull inside a yard in Corozal Town. The family was subsequently called to the scene to confirm the identity of the remains. The family was then able to bring their loved one’s skull back to his gravesite for a second burial. Whittaker was killed in Chetumal earlier this month along with 18-year-old, Aaron Tun. The two men’s bodies were found among three others at a bus stop. Their bodies were brought into Belize and laid to rest. On the following day, however, the gravesites were disturbed. While they could not access Tun’s coffin, they were able to penetrate Whittaker’s tomb and take his skull. The culprits reportedly tried to set Tun’s corpse on fire when they could not gain access to the coffin. Police are yet to make any arrests in the incidents.
