Family Tragedy Unfolds: Man Charged with Brother-in-Law’s Murder

A man was charged for stabbing his brother-in-law, Levan Christopher Aldana, to death on Wednesday night. 28-year-old Arthur Simon Hill surrendered to Police a few hours after the incident.  Family members say that Aldana and Hill were drinking on Wednesday night at their home in Biscayne Village but left to go to a ranch just before 9:00 p.m. Aldana returned home later with multiple stab wounds and cuts to the neck and face and abdomen. According to the family, Aldana told them who his killer was before he succumbed to the injuries on his way to the hospital. Senior Superintendent Hilberto Romero says the brothers-in-law had an altercation that caused fights when they were under the influence.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “On Wednesday the 31st of January 2024 police responded to a stabbing incident at Biscayne Village in the Belize district. Upon their arrival they found Levan Aldanda, 19 years, with stabwound injuries. Several efforts were made to provide assistance to him. He was ferried immediately to the KHMH where he succumbed to his injuries thereafter. Investigations revealed that Levan Aldana left a house in Biscayne along with one Arthur Hill and shortly thereafter Levan Aldana returned with the injuries. An investigation has been carried out, statements have been recorded and Arthur Hill is detained pending charges of murder at this time.”

Reporter: Can you say if Arthur Hill attempted to flee police arrest ?

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “No he wa apprehended shortly thereafter in the area.”

Reporter: He turned himself in right ?

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “No he was apprehended by the police.”

Reporter: Can you say whether your investigation has led you to any “shallow” grave that had been dug in that vicinity ?

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “Not that I know of no.”

Reporter: Or what was the motive ?

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “The information we have gathered is that these two person have an altercation from way back and every time they see each other and are consuming alcoholic beverages they get into fights, that is the information we have.”

Reporter: And you know, was there – apparently he was stabbed to death, has any knife been recovered ?

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “No. No knife has been recovered.”

Reporter: Were there any witnesses because the family said that whatever they went to sleep the guys were locked outside then a neighboring farmer said they came around but he chased them. So did anyone, do you all have any witnesses who actually saw the two having an altercation  ?

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “I will not go into the details as to any witnesses. I mentioned we did several interviews and collected evidence and that is what led to this arrest at this time.”

Reporter: Can you say what the dispute was about ?

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “We’re not sure, that’s the information we have that they always had some dispute between them.”

Reporter: Is he cooperating with police ? Is he telling you the motive ?
ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division:“I will not divulge that information. Again, we have sufficient evidence to charge him at this time.”

Both men were living with their spouses and mother-in-law in the house in Biscayne Village, Belize District.
