“Let’s Get Growing” is the theme being used for the upcoming National Agricultural and Trade Show slated to take place from April 28 to 30 on the showgrounds in Belmopan. The works on the showgrounds have been ongoing for some years now as the ministry seeks to have a more organized venue. Love News spoke with CEO in the Ministry of Agriculture, Jose Alpuche who spoke of the ongoing works as well as the aspect of agriculture at the show.
“We have set out a five year plan which is very well being implemented as it relates to the rebuilding and reforming of the grounds. Over the last few years we have been dividing it up and there is a distinct agriculture section that we’ve been working on for the last couple years. There is a permanent garden out there, this year one of the highlights will be the construction, which is almost complete, of a venue for a weekend market, a weekend farmers’ market and we will open that shortly after the show but for the show itself the vegetable portion of the weekend market will be operational and we are doing quite a bit to indeed bring the show back to the roots of an agriculture and trade show but as I said the centerpiece in terms of development this year, the transformation this year will be the inauguration of the farmers market.”
The National Agriculture and Trade Show has been going on for decades now with direction provided by the NATS Committee which is headed by Gary Ramirez.
