A man is dead after a fatal traffic incident that occurred on the Southern Highway on Saturday evening. Police officers were called at around six in the morning between miles 45 and 46 where a motorcycle ran into a man. Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett briefed the media with the preliminary findings of their investigation.
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “Police were called to an accident scene between miles 45 and 46 on the Southern Highway where upon arrival they observed the motionless body of a Hispanic male with bodily injuries. Also observed there was a Honda motorcycle and beside that was one Ruben Cuellar, 46 years if San Isidro Village who claimed to have been the driver of the motorcycle. According to him he was on his way home southbound on his motorcycle when somewhere near the scene this Hispanic male suddenly staggered onto the highway and was hit by the motorcycle causing his injuries and eventually led to his death. Cuellear has since been detained, samples taken from him and he remains detained pending the outcome of this investigation.”
The unidentified man sustained a large cut wound under the chest and a small cut over the left eye. Police investigation continues.
