Fatal Shooting in Nightclub Parking Lot

A man lost his life over the holiday weekend after opening fire in a nightclub parking lot. In the wee hours of Sunday morning, 28-year-old Trevor Brown, who was reportedly intoxicated, got into an exchange of words with another man whose vehicle he had hit. Brown then opened fire on the man, hitting him in the head. However, the man was able to survive the blow and returned fire in an act of self-defense, mortally wounding Brown. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero shared information gathered by police.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Commander of Eastern Division: “Information received that Trevor Brown had an altercation with another male person at the parking lot and at some point both of them pulled out firearms and fired at each other. Shortly thereafter a male person was apprehended in the Yabra area and he was found with a gunshot injury to the head. He was taken to the hospital and he is presently admitted receiving treatment. Several expended shells were found at the scene and vehicles were seen with bullet holes. A thorough investigation is being carried out into this incident and statements are being recorded. We have video footage and these will be forwarded to the DPP for determination. The person that is admitted at the hospital is still there and so we await his release to conduct an interview. All we have is that both of them had firearms and they fired at each other.”

Our newsroom also spoke to Brown’s brother, Travis, who says the father-of-three was not an angel.

Travis Brown, Brother of Deceased: “I’ll be honest with you my brother is not a saint so I can’t stand up here and say x,y,z what happened. I can’t stand up and say he was no saint but at the same time it’s my brother still you know ? But unfortunate situation happened. I can’t turn back the hands of time it’s already happened so I just have to live with it now. He was a party man. He’d go out, enjoy himself, spend his money, used to say “Bwai I want to be where you’re playing because you’re always turning up the spot.” but things happen you know ? I can’t change it. So I am grieving but I just take it easy one day at a time. I’m not trying to step out of my boundary or nothing. I just continue life but at the same time I lost my little brother. He was somebody once you tantalize him you will get him the next way I know that for a fact. Once you tantalize him he will act different because he’s somebody that you will address you about any situation because he doesn’t hold back he will address you about any situation “what’s going on with the x,y,z ?” or “what is going on with this ?” you know but other than that if you don’t tantalize him you and him will be straight no matter what is the situation or what is the problem. Once you don’t tantalize him but like I said-“

Reporter: Do you believe maybe alcohol maybe played a role in what transpired or anything like that ?
Travis Brown, Brother of Deceased: “Well over this weekend I’ll be honest with you everybody was drinking so I can’t say this past weekend was a weekend where everybody was drinking from Thursday so I can’t say well the man was intoxicated or what but everybody was out drinking this weekend.”

Contrary to the police’s version of events, our newsroom understands that the man involved in the incident turned himself over to the police after the shooting
