Female minor survives kidnapping attempt

Belize City residents are on high alert after an attempt was made to abduct a minor this morning. Around 7:30, a female student was at the corner of Boots Crescent and Benbow Street when she was grabbed from behind by a man in a black van. The minor told police that the assailant attempted to drag her into the van, which had two other men inside, through the vehicle’s side door. Fortunately, a passerby shouted at the assailant, which prompted him to release the minor. The men then fled in the direction of Neal’s Pen Road, making good their escape. Police are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the area and are actively searching for the culprits.
