Yesterday, we reported on a fire that left a Belize City family of four displaced over the weekend. The blaze broke out just after seven o’clock on Saturday night at the home of 38-year-old Omar Flowers in the CET Site area. About an hour after leaving his residence Flowers received a call that his house was on fire. He rushed over but by then the wooden structure had been completely gutted by the blaze. Flowers believes that the fire may have been the result of a malicious act, however, fire personnel have dispelled that claim. According to Kenneth Mortis, Station Supervisor at the National Fire Service, late yesterday evening the department concluded its report. Mortis told Love News that the official cause of the fire was ruled to be an electrical fault. Flowers estimated the loss to be around thirty thousand dollars and is seeking the public’s assistance in rebuilding his home. If you are willing and able to assist he can be reached at 673-7913.
