The Fisheries Department has added one more vehicle and an outboard engine to its fleet through funding from the Blue Bond and Finance Permanence Unit. The donation is part of a project called “Deep Breath” – “Establishing the Enabling Environment for the Development of a Marine Spatial Plan through Strengthened Governance, Improved Management, and Enhanced Monitoring of Belize’s Coastal and Marine Resources”. The project is valued at 11.7 million dollars and is being implemented under the Blue Bond Agreement. GOB says the donation seeks to strengthen the fisheries governance and management effectiveness in Belize’s blue space.
