Fisherman Drowns in Mojo River During Weekend Outing

A routine evening at a remote campsite turned tragic on Friday when 62-year-old fisherman Delmore Wagner reportedly drowned while swimming in the Mojo River. According to police, at around 7:00 p.m., David Wade, a fisherman, arrived at the Punta Gorda Police Station to report Wagner missing. Wade explained that he and Wagner, along with Levi Gentle of the Hopeville area, were at a campsite where the Mojo River meets the sea when the incident occurred. Love News spoke with Assistant Superintendent of Police, Stacy Smith, who explained that Wagner was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when he decided to take a swim. 

Doctors pronounced Wagner dead at 12:28 a.m. on Saturday, June 28. The body now lies at the hospital morgue awaiting a postmortem examination.
