A couple of weeks ago a group of three fishermen from the north of the country came in contact with armed robbers when they were fishing around sixteen miles from the coast of Dangriga. Two fishermen were able to escape, but one remains missing. The Belize National Coast Guard, commandant Admiral John Borland spoke on the incident
Borland stated that the robbers have tried to intimidate the Coast Guard by sending them messages.
It has been more than two weeks since the disappearance of the fisherman. Borland stated that even though they remain hopeful of finding him, chances of his survival are now below twenty percent.
