Fisherman Shot in Belize City: Investigation Underway to Identify Assailant

Investigators are hoping to bring charges against the person or persons who shot forty-nine-year-old Delbert Hinds last week. On Thursday, Hinds was shot as he walked on Antelope Street. Police say the fisherman came under fire and suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, informed the media today that investigators have gotten several leads.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “With that matter police are dealing with it. No one has been charged yet. I know that prior to the shooting there seems to have been some misunderstanding between him and a woman and we believe that that may have been what caused the incident. Police had detained a number of persons and they were interviewed but I don’t think that we were able to gather evidence sufficient to charge anybody.”
